A manuscript created for Louis XVI and presented to the King in a special green morocco binding. As Bernard says ‘it was a gift from the author to the King of France, then from the King of France to his wife – a sort of double provenance.’ The wife in question was of course Marie Antoinette, and her arms can be found on the inside covers of the book.
