Asia Illustrated | Catalogue Highlights
The interaction between Europe and Asia has always had the potential to enrich the knowledge of both continents. Sadly, this promise has not always been fulfilled, however a side effect was that many talented artists also made their way eastwards and have left us a superb visual record of Asia.
As the world pivots towards Asia and particularly the economic superpowers that are China and India, it is an ideal time to reflect on the glories of these countries as seen by western artists over the century and a half from 1750 to the turn of the twentieth century.
