The dedication copy. Beneath the printed dedication the author has written, 'and again To Clarissa from Gerald October 1941'. The recipient Clarissa Spencer-Churchill was Winston Churchill's cousin (their father's were brothers), she went on to marry Anthony Eden as his second wife, becoming Countess of Avon.

First edition, first impression, dedication copy inscribed by the author; 8vo; publisher's grey wrappers, printed in black, rather rubbed and somewhat tanned, else very good.
