The Queen of Spades, an opera in 3 acts by Pyotr Tchaikovsky to a Russian libretto by the composer's brother Modest Tchaikovsky. It is based on a short story of the same title by Alexander Pushkin, though, the plot was dramatically altered. The premiere took place in December 1890 at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg.
The choreography came from Serge Lifar and the stage design from Yury Annenkov.
Folio (31 x 24 cm); 24pp.; 10 illustrations by Annenkov, text in French and German; original printed wrappers, slightly age toned, a fine copy.
