An unusual and rare pamphlet on the care of pet parrots, with interesting ads for bird and reptile supplies as well as a hand-coloured illustration on the cover and another in the contents. We can locate one historical record of this publication, in a list of accessions to the United States Department of Agriculture Library in the same year as publication. It seems an edition was also published in 1952, as a copy is listed in the holdings of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library on WorldCat. We could find out little about the author, but based on the contents he seems to have been a parrot breeder and perhaps dealer.

26-page wire-stitched pamphlet; hand-coloured plate, 3 leaves of ads, contents a little toned and creased; original grey wrappers printed in black with hand-coloured parrot illustration to the upper wrapper, ownership signature to the upper wrapper, wrappers rubbed, toned, and creased with closed splits at the head and tail, very good condition.

Provenance

Provenance: George M. Brown (signature).
