Collection: Women Writers Collection

Booksellers at Shapero Rare Books continue celebrating Women’s History Month with a fantastic collection of over 500 books by female writers. The selection includes many of the best-known works by women in the 20th century and offers a wonderful opportunity to start a collection of exceptional women writers—or potentially acquire an almost complete set.

From Isabel Allende to Antonia White, the collection features first editions and other important editions in mint condition.

Among the highlights is a complete set of Sue Grafton’s Alphabet series (all first editions, printed from 1982 to 2017). The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison—the Nobel Prize winner’s first book, published in 1970—is the most premium title in the collection.

Several books are by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, the only person to have won both a Booker Prize and an Oscar, with the most valuable among them being To Whom She Will.

Other notable authors featured include Doris Lessing, Iris Murdoch, Daphne du Maurier, Nina Bawden, and Elizabeth Bowen.
