Rev. Anselm Bayly (1719-1794) was an English vicar, sub-dean of his majesty's Chapel Royal, and author of various works, mainly of theological and critical nature.
The first edition of this work was published the same year as the second, but in 4 volumes, by Evans & c.
Second edition. 8vo, 7 vols (rebound from original 3); late brown half-morocco, edges rubbed. 2 maps and 4 engraved illustration plates (3 of which used as frontispieces to vols 1, 4 and 5). Original frontispiece appears to be missing (according to Darlow & Moule); text in Hebrew and English on facing pages.
