An album of views that depicts the journey along the Göta Canal which had only been opened eleven years prior. The twenty four views show the locations and landmarks visible along the route, including Gothenburg, Trollhätta, Leckö, Husaby, Wadstena, Motala, Brunneby, Vreta, Berg, Norrköping, Söderköping, Stegeborg, Gottenvik, and Stockholm.
Carl Johan Billmark (1804-1870) and Carl Oscar Cardon (1812-1899) were both prolific Swedish lithogrophars, particularly Billmark who produced hundreds of studies in his lifetime, most of him Swedish homeland.
First edition; landscape 4to (23 x 31.5 cm); text in French, 24 hand-coloured lithograph plates by O. Cardon after J. C. Billmark, text block clean; later quarter cloth-backed boards with original gilt spine laid down, a touch of rubbing to extremities, original spin slightly worn; [2]pp., 20 col.
