The editor, Nathaniel Forster D. D. (1718–1757) was an English cleric and biblical scholar. Son of a minister, he was educated at Eton and at the Corpus Christi College in Oxford. In 1750 he became domestic chaplain to Bishop Joseph Butler, who died in his arms two years later in Bath, Somerset.
First edition; two volumes in one; 4to (24 x 19.5 cm); text in Hebrew; contemporary calf boards with gilt borders, spine with raised bands, leather label, joints and spine cracked.
