Thomas Griffith Taylor (1880-1963) was a renowned geographer and was appointed Senior Geologist on the Terra Nova Expedition by Scott. He led the team as they gathered much scientific data and analyses of regions of Antarctica, and one of the party which survived the ill-fated expedition.
First edition; 4to (31 x 24 cm); 153 plates on 33 sheets, 4 large folding maps in rear pocket, 173 in-text illustrations, errata slip facing p.1, internally fine; publisher's red cloth, gilt lettering to spine, spine a little soiled with minor chipping to head and foot, touch of rubbing to boards, a very good copy; xvi, 246pp.
