Returning for his mother's funeral he finds himself involved in the same awful problems, together with some new ones. He also rediscovers the eternal family servant, the ever-changing 'Italian girl'.

First edition, first impression; 8vo; light offsetting to endpapers, ownership signature to front free endpaper, else unmarked internally; publisher's blue boards, spine lettered in gilt, with the unclipped pictorial dustjacket designed by Reynolds Stone, slightly tanned, some spotting and staining to rear panel, a few small nicks and tears to extremities, else very good.
