There appears to be only one complete copy of this album with sixty hand coloured plates- most copies have less. This copy has the first 36 plates as issued.
Swiss genre painter and lithographer Jean Gabriel Scheffer (1797-1876), who studied with Regnault and was a friend of Corot, Aligny, and Léopold Robert had reputation as a designer of many wry and humorous lithographed. His work was shown at the Salon de Paris beginning in 1822.
Landscape folio (33.5 x 25 cm); hand-coloured lithographed title-page, 36 hand-coloured lithographed plates, all captioned and numbered, paper slightly browned not affecting the plates, some slight staining on the verso, again not affecting the plates; contemporary morocco backed printed pictorial brown boards; overall a very good copy.
