The first section is devoted to Switzerland. The second section covers the Alps of Savoy and Piedmont. This practice continued until the sixteenth edition when this title was published in two volumes. The views include Mont Blanc and the Bernese Alps. Endpapers dated "August 1852
Fifth edition. pp. lxvi, 406, 24 adverts dated 1852, 4 publisher's advert tipped in before title-page, 4 maps and views, all folded, ink inscription on title-page; publisher's brown cloth gilt; a very attractive copy.
