Discarded Image was to be Lewis' last book, published posthumously the year after his death in 1963. Originally given as a course of lectures at the University of Oxford, its purpose is to provide the general reader with a broad overview of the themes and historical currents which underlay much of the literature written from the twelfth century through to the early modern period.
