Discarded Image was to be Lewis' last book, published posthumously the year after his death in 1963. Originally given as a course of lectures at the University of Oxford, its purpose is to provide the general reader with a broad overview of the themes and historical currents which underlay much of the literature written from the twelfth century through to the early modern period.
First edition, first impression; 8vo (20.5 x 13.5 cm); light corner fold lines to first few ff; publisher's blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, slightly cockled, unclipped typographic dustjacket printed in red and black, edges chipped with slight loss and a few closed tears, small archival tape repair to verso, very good; ix, [1], 231, [1]pp.
