First edition, first impression; 8vo (195 x 135 mm); illustrations and map endpapers by Ernest Shepard; publisher's green pictorial cloth gilt, top edge gilt, light bumping to spine tips, minor rubbing to corners, and offsetting to endpapers, else near-fine, illustrated dust-jacket (priced 7/6 on spine and with the advert for the 117th Thousand of When We Were Very Young on rear flap, strip of light browning to map endpapers, ownership inscription on front free endpaper, otherwise internally clean, fractional bumping to spine tips and corners, otherwise fine and sharp cloth, dust-jacket, spine evenly browned, the odd nick to upper edge and spine head, light surface soiling, else a sharp, very good to near-fine copy in a totally unrestored, 'unsophisticated' state.
