Judith, Lady Montefiore (née Barent Cohen, 1784-1862) was known for her social influence and generosity throughout the Jewish community. She married Moses Montefiore in 1812, and together they became two of the best-known members of the Jewish elite. She journeyed several times to the Levant. This is the record of her first journey and was printed in a small edition for distribution to family and friends.
First edition; 12mo (20.5 x 13 cm); original blind-tooled navy cloth boards, gilt title to spine, minor foxing to endpapers and first & last leaves, some pages roughly trimmed; [4], 322 pp.
