The Clicking of Cuthbert.
Stock Code 110534
London, Herbert Jenkins, 1922
A collection of golfing short stories: the first story introduces the Oldest Member, a recurring Wodehouse character, who narrates all but the last story. Character names, places, and famous golfers were later altered for American audiences in the 1924 US edition. The dustjacket bears a comical illustration by C. Morse, which depicts a group of miniaturised men as clubs in a woman's golf bag.
First edition, first impression; 8vo; some offsetting to endpapers, a few early pages nicked at fore-edge, else unmarked internally; publisher's green pictorial cloth, lettered and stamped in dark green, light wear to extremities, with the original pictorial dust-jacket, light soiling and a few stains, a few small tears or chips, that to head of spine panel with slight associated loss; a very good copy.
