An attractive album of views of Benares, commissioned by the Maharajah of Benares, possibly to celebrate the British recognition of the region as a Princely State in 1911.

The views feature the ghats lined with temples, royal residences, and colonial buildings, amongst others.

31 original silver gelatin prints, mounted in an album on thick card, typical image size 235 x 232 mm, each with printed caption below image, includes full-length image of Maharajah Prabhu Narayan Singh (slight wear to foot of image), and his son and successor, Aditya Narayan Singh, these captioned by hand.
