The contents of the fifty plates are different from the folio edition, apart from three, which came out in 1821. This edition remains one of the finest records of British sports and exhibit Alken's pleasing artistic touch.
Includes racing, fox hunting, coursing, shooting of a variety of different birds including grouse and pheasants, punting for fowl, ferreting rabbits, fishing, dog fighting, cock fighting, and baiting of bulls, bears and badgers.
Tall 8vo (28 x 18.5 cm); 50 hand-coloured aquatint plates after Henry Alken, clean and tight internally; later half red morocco, marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt in six compartments, a very good copy; vi, [100]pp.
