A charming set of plates by Alken achieving a more humorous style than Alken's typical sporting images, showing a couple of gentleman in a sequence of events during their ride in the country. Each plate also has a caption making a light-hearted joke or comment of the image in question.
The second edition only various from the first in a small variation in the title.
Second edition; landscape 4to (24.5 x 32 cm); title and 18 hand-coloured plates, clean and fresh internally; later full calf, boards blind rolled, gilt lettering label to upper board, spine in five compartments, later endpapers, a couple of scuffs to boards, a very good copy.
